Cape Beard: Follicles of Freedom, Beard and Mustache Club

Cape Beard is a non-profit Beard & Moustache Club of Fayetteville NC who have been promoting the accolades of facial hair since 2011. Our members, specializing in many trades, utilize their various skills to better our local community. With increased support within our city we are gaining momentum with each charity event. It is our families, local-businesses, and you – our friends that enable us to accomplish our successes. As one of the largest facial hair clubs in North Carolina, you helped us raise $252,376, receive a proclamation from the City of Fayetteville, and most importantly, IMPROVE OUR COMMUNITY!

With deepest gratitude, we thank you, and KTF!

History of Cape Beard

Cape Beard: Follicles of Freedom was formed by the original group of 10 members in 2011.
Cape Beard begins its charity event schedule with the first iteration of an annual beard competition called Beardtoberfest. Beardtoberfest began without the star wars theme everyone knows today. Show Us Your Cans and Pig Pickin’ also made their debut in 2012.
During the second official Beardtoberfest planning Cape Beard decided to go with a Star Wars theme, gifted to us from the Savannah Beard Club, and started numbering the Beardtoberfest events accordingly starting in 2013
2014 saw the introduction of two new events to the Cape Beard charity repertoire. Bearded Beauties showcases some of our members crossdressing and performing to raise money for charity while Dunk-A-Beard allows families the opportunity for fun during the hot summer days! We have yet to establish a new location to host this beloved event since 2017, but we do look forward to bringing it back.
Over the years we have continued to bring forth our best in Pig Pickin' and Beardtoberfest. Recently we have changed the nature of Beardtoberfest to represent more themes than just Star Wars labeling it "Beard-a-con", but keeping the Beardtoberfest main title. We have also started doing "Show Us Your Cans" once again and still look forward to locating a proper space to house our beloved Bearded Beauties event!
